LE TADORNE HOTEL AND RESTAURANT, AN ARCHITECTURAL ATTRACTION

The first distinctive feature is the premises: the hotel is housed in three superb buildings which date from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries and which still boast their original architecture. This is strongly characterised by the very traditional “half-timber” construction method and is particularly well preserved. This architecture is being restored to its former glory throughout the region, both in the historic heart of Troyes and in many local villages.
Piney market hall, on the opposite side of the road, is one of the finest examples of this proud vernacular heritage which has survived the centuries completely unscathed. And it is still as solid, elegant and impressive as ever. Le Tadorne Hotel and Restaurant, with its half-timber work and corbels, offers authentic surroundings with a romantic touch. Beneath its venerable old frame, it houses 24 spacious, pleasant and comfortable rooms.

LE TADORNE, AN INCREDIBLE HUMAN ADVENTURE

The second attribute is the spirit in which the place has developed over the years, under the direction of its owners, Nathalie and Patrice Carillon, who are now joined by their son Pierre. Having entered the profession at a very young age (22!), they have since displayed incredible entrepreneurial ability. They have managed their project step by step, consistently and with a real passion. The family, who expertly welcome and interact with their guests, are genuinely passionate about art de vivre, food, heritage, nature, culture, history ... Their know-how and sociability are infectious.

The original Café de Voyageurs, with its small bar, restaurant and eight rooms, was bought by Nathalie and Patrice Carillon in 1986 and has since tripled in size. And Le Tadorne has established itself as one of the region’s leading hotel-restaurants. It is named in honour of an iconic and friendly duck which, during its migration, likes to take refuge on the shores of the Aube lakes, before taking off again, bound for different horizons...
